			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>There always seems to be a lot of confusion when it comes to disability, many people are a little puzzled when trying to determine what exactly constitutes a person being disabled. There are several ways that a person can be classified as living with a disability.</p>
<p>Physical disability is one of the top classifications, when it comes to being disabled. A physical disability means that a person is unable to do many of the things that other people are able to do on a daily basis by using their body in the same manner. This type of disability takes many forms is in the type that most people are most used to seeing in their daily lives.</p>
<p>There are a lot of considerations that living with a physical disability can mean. This can mean that a person is unable to go to the store without assistance or work a certain job due to a physical handicap that prevents them from doing so. Persons living with a physical disability often need assistance to do many of the basic things in life that the rest of us take for granted.</p>
<p>Physical disabilities also include those of the sensory awareness category. These are disabilities that may affect the eyes as well as the ears. A person may have full use of their arms and legs, only to be limited by the use of their eyes in seeing or hearing. Most times this will be grouped into the physical disability.</p>
<p>There is another type which is called mental disability; this is where a person may have a mental handicap that prevents them from functioning like the rest of society. This may as simple as having difficulty reading due to sever dyslexia or as complex as sever retardation. This may be a result of a learning issue or a social issue. The unfortunate part is that many times these people are placed all in the same group and often, people who are not really disabled are labeled as such.</p>
<p>Just because a person may be disabled now, does not mean it will be a permanent situation. Many times a physical disability will be classified as short-term. This is usually the case if a person was involved in an accident that keeps them from being 100% functional.</p>
<p>A person who is short termed disabled is often-times placed on workers compensation if the accident occurred while on the job. If it did not they or their insurance will pay for the treatments and living expenses they have while disabled. If the disability is the result of a car accident, then they may need a lawyer in order to get compensation for their injuries.</p>
<p>The good news is that due to advancements in medicine, there is less chance that a person will have to go through their life being disabled. They are able to have procedures that ensure that they can attempt to live a normal life, and not have to rely on the use of devices to. As the years pass, there will be more advancement in this field, and one day disabilities may be eliminated from our society.</p>
<p>Having a disability does not mean the end of your life. While it will be a little tough to adjust to, you can still go on with your life and do many of the things that you love to do. There is no sign on you that say that you need to stop living your life, you will just need to make a few adjustments.</p>

However, accidents can happen and it is possible to suffer from a serious workplace injury even when you take the measures to combat on the job hazards. If you do suffer from a serious injury while working it is likely you will have to take time to recover, missing work and possibly missing paychecks. Luckily there are many options for being compensated for your suffering, such as long and short term disability.</p>
<p><strong>Short Term Disability </strong></p>
<p>Both short and long term disability policies exist to give injured workers the support they deserve after suffering in relation to their work duties. These policies differ in many ways. Short term disability exists to assist those who have to miss more than a few days of work following their accident, and they typically consist of the following components:</p>
<p>· Short term benefits will usually begin once the victim&#8217;s sick leave has been exhausted</p>
<p>· Sort term disability will allow the victim to recover a percentage of their paycheck throughout the healing process</p>
<p>· The payments given to the victim will usually decrease in percentage after the first few weeks of disability leave</p>
<p>· These benefits usually last up to 6 months</p>
<p><strong>Long Term Disability</strong></p>
<p>When an accident is particularly tragic or catastrophic it is possible the victim will have to miss more than 6 months of work for recovery. These individuals can qualify for long term disability, which consists of the following:</p>
<p>· Long term disability coverage usually pick up where the short term plan ends</p>
<p>· Some plans will only last a certain number of year, such as 5 years or 10 years</p>
<p>· Other plans will last up to a certain age, such as 65</p>
<p>· Long term disability policies can cover those who suffer an accident that leaves them permanently disabled.</p>
